Single Parenting: Advantages/Disadvantages

I don't think that single parenting is a good thing. It has it's advantages and disadvavntages. One thing that breaks my heart is that, for single parenting to occur one of the parents must be gone, whether they have died or they just left. Either way they aren't a part of the neworns life. Single parenting not only affects the partner, but it also affects the newborn child.

Single parenting affects the newborn child because now there is a figure in your life missing, whether it is the mother or father, the baby is affected the most. At times there are children that grow up to say, "I am such-and-such way because I didn't have a father figure or motherly figure in my life," or "I take drugs because I didn't have a father that was truley there for me and it broke my heart." These are the reason why parents must be more responsible for their children, because the child may grow up to be a bad person due to their lack of having a parent.

One advantage of being a single parent is that you have total control. I don't say this so that you go off and become a single parent voluntarily, but you have total control of the child, finances, and many other things. You don't have someone that argues with you, other than your child. And you don't hae someone who tries to control you. You have more control over your child because if they ask you for something and you say no, then they can't run off and ask anyone else and defy your order because you are the only parent there to allow them to do what they want. You are in total financial control because you don't have someone irresponsible to get you into financial troubles or debts, unless you do that to yourself.

One disadvantage of single parenting is that there is lack of support and pressure and stress on you. You don't have that one person living with you to support you and help you out around the house. You are forced to do all the house work until your baby is old enogh to help out and at times that can get very tiring. You also have to provide for the family. You will be the one earning money to keep a roof over your heads and you are the one who will be buying clothes to put on your backs. This is pressure put on a single mom. Also, for a baby you need pampers, wipes, a bottle, a pacifier, and many more things. Without a job how can you provide these things for a baby.

All these things are things that happen to single moms everday all across the world, but the real idea is whether you chose to have a baby and take a risk or whether you wait and get married so that the chances are less likely. The choice is yours.

Two-Person Poem: Teen Pregnancies

My Parents
My parents are furious that I am pregnant.
My parents were so mad when I told them that I was pregnant that they kicked me out of the house.

Being Pregnant
I eat like I am starving, all day, every day and I hate it all.
The only way I can eat is when people on the street give me money or if I find money, even then half-the time I am starving.

My Boyfriend
My boyfriend is annoying, but I am glad he has stuck around and has been there for me as my baby's father.
My boyfriend left me when I told him that I was pregnant and my parents kicked me out of the house, he told me that the only reason he was around was for the fun and now we are through.

My Goals
I hope to finish high school and go to college, and also finish college.
I think I'll just have an abortion. The streets aren't exactly a safe place for my baby to grow, he doesn't have a father and thanks to me, he probably won't have an education either.

My Hopes
I hope my baby will grow to be the best that he can be.
I hope that getting this abortion won't be the biggest mistake of my enitre life.

The idea for this peom was easy for me to chose because pregnancies are a big part of our society with teens, and abortions are something that I have always been against, but I also wanted to show people different parts of the issue. I also wanted to get across the message that having a baby is a whole lot of work, so waiting to have a baby is probably the best choice for all the young ladies out there, specially if you are just going to go off and end it's life. Thinking of different parts of the issue to talk about was the harder part of writing this poem. In pregnancies, there are many things to talk about, but I thought that one of the most important things of the issue is, "how everyone else is affected by the pregnancy." That is where the parents came in, and the boyfriend. These people are the ones that can make a huge difference in a newborn baby's life. All these things were what I wanted to show people, so that they can think twice about having a baby, or think of having an abortion.

The Dog With A Huge Heart: Winn-Dixie

In the book, Because of Winn-Dixie By Kate DiCamillo, a young lady, India Opal Buloni, has found a dog who changes her life, for the better. She doesn't just find this dog on the street, she finds him in a supermarket, causing trouble. This dog becomes her best friend and the one person she can rely on to love her and treat her right. Throughout the book, the love between Winn-Dixie and Opal gets stronger, like a bond between people, except stronger.

In the beginning of the book, Opal finds the life changing dog in the Winn-Dixie Super market and just by coincidence, the dogs name just happened to be Winn-Dixie. At first the realtionship was kind of awkward because they didn't really know eachother yet, Opal focused on cleaning him up, just so that he was a presentable dog and juust so that her dad, the preacher, would lt her keep the dog. At first, he said no, but then his heart warmed up to the dog and even he loved Winn-Dixie.

By the end of the book, Winn-Dixie and Opal's relationship is very strong and they are like two peas in a pot. I bet they could finish eachother's sentences if Winn-Dixie could speak and Opal could read his mind. The best thing of all is that Winn-Dixie helps her find other friends of her own that she can also rely on and one of them ends up being her arch enemy.

I think that this book shows that love is not just for humans, a dog can help mend a heart just by showing you their love, not only because they are mans best friend, but also because some of the dogs can love more than humans can.

Abortions

The problem with abortions is that a baby loses his life because a young lady makes a bad choice, but what is worse is living with the pain of the memory. Not knowing what your baby could've looked like, not caring because you would've loved him just exactly how he was. These are the things that haunt to young ladies of our generation. Most of them making the altimate decision to have sex then not dealing with the result of their decision. Then, they kill their baby because it might be a memory of their bad decision, like if the baby themself asked you to have sex. Then again, it could've been the start to a new beginning, of a new life, of a new you.

I think that what causes women to have abortions most of the time is their partner. Most of the time both aren't even ready for the responsibility of a child at times, but they just want to experience things at a young age, not fully comprehending what comes with fun. Also, at times the father of the baby may say to the mother, "If you don't leave the baby, then I will leave you." It hurts the mother so much that she feels as if she is forced to leave her baby. In some cases, the result may be that the mother has an Abortion, but in some cases the mother is a strong individual and keeps the baby. She fights for the baby who can't fight for himself or herself.

I think that a solution for Abortion could be that all we need are young women willing to fight for their babies life. They are willing to keep their baby alive, and they are willing to give the baby all the necessary love it needs, because that is what a good mother does, she loves her baby even before it is born. She loves it because she wants it to love her, too. She loves her baby because her baby is her own baby.

Bullying

It is one of the social issues that is taking lives from many of their loved ones. The problem of bullying is that there are many different ways to bully a person, yet all hurt just as much as the other. For example there is Cyberbullying- bullying that is carried out by an electronic medium. Verbal bullying- where you aren't physically hurt but people say things that hurt your feelings. Physical bullying- someone is physically touching you and hurting you in a negative way.

There are many different reasons to why people start to bully others. One reason is because they get bullied, so they feel that if they bully someone and get away with it they are bigger and better in some way, it makes them feel better about themselves. Also, many times bullies are rewarded for their bad behavior as small children so they continue their act of malice until corrected. This causes others to suffer because of a case that could've been stopped before it got out of control. At many times, bullying may result in fatal endings like deaths, or even suicides.

I personally think that if all people just treated others with total respect then there wouldn't have to be an excuse to treat others in a bad way, even if people can always find a way to come up with an excuse for their bad actions, people would think twice when they were mean to someone and they would help save a life that would've comitted suicide due to bullying itself.

The Heroine of the Mythical World: Clary Fray

In the book, City of Ashes By Cassandra Clare, the main character, Clary Fray, has a new life. Ever since she started seeing these Downworlder creatures, like werewolves, vampires and fairies, her life has gone from normal to supernatural. Finding out that her own mother knew of this world was no meadow of roses, but not only was her mom in a coma, but the boy shes kisses ends up being her long-lost brother and the father she was told once died is alive and is also the most hated person in their world, but this doesn't keep Clary down, this makes her stronger. Clary is one of the reasons why I try to be the best I can be everyday.

One way that Clary inspires me to be the best person I can be is that she is a strong individual. I want to grow up not letting things get to me even when they are huge problems, but instead of them keeping me down I want them to make me stronger. When I am hurt or down, I might give up the fight and surrender, but if I am strong then I will pick myself up and fight on 'till the death because that is what strong people do. They don't give up they don't back down, they FIGHT! This is one thing that Clary shows me.

Another way that Clary inspires me to be the best person I can be is that, she is accepting. She had never met her father but when she did she didn't like it, yet she was willing to accept that he was the most evil person known to Downworlders. Even then she was against him because she only faught for good, not for evil. Also, the life of a Shadowhunter was new to her and she wasn't use to all the action of fighting different things and people, but she eventually got use to this. She didn't jugde the life she just accepted it as it was. This was because it had always been a part of her life, but she just hadn't known it. So, this is also another thing that Clary shows me.

I think that this Fantasy book has shown me more than just the life of a Shadowhunter, it has shown me different family issues that I didn't think were suppose to happen between families, like a whole world, containing your long-lost brother and father, being hiden from you for your 16 years of life, so far. This is something huge, but I can understand why Clary's mom hid the world from her, because it was just too much. Also, a lesson that I learned was definately that family is always more important than friends and the two should neevr get mixed up so that you can keep conflicts from occuring, like when Jace and Simon had a fight. Jace kissed Clary, but he was her brother and didn't know that, but Simon was jealous because he had liked her for many years, but then Jace comes into Clary's life and can sweep her off her feet. Even then Simon and Clary stayed friends and Jace and Clary stayed siblings.

The End!
